The Supreme Court is the highest court in the whole judiciary of the United States. Located in Washington D.C the court is made by nominated candidates that the president pushes forward and congress permits. The term you serve is a life tenure in which you can only break if you decide to retire, die, resign, or get removed from office because of actions you put upon yourself. On the website of the supreme court you can actually hear the cases they go over by oral arguments audio or you can read it through document. I personally find it astonishing that the cases are recorded and documented and are allowed to be released to the public. I usually find myself listening to the hearings during the weekend's because they vary from 1 hour to 1 hour and thirty minutes. The supreme court is very important for our society because essentially it passes the huge laws that affect our nation as a whole. So you can probably guess that each one of the Justices are nationally recognized as the best judges in the nation. Total number of members are nine in which all come from prestigious law universities.
